Secularization
Most rational people believe in evidence-based truth, and natural causes of all effects. Secularization is the gradual cultural trend toward evidence-based reason, truth, and naturalism. It is characterized by gradually diminishing belief in paternalistic, male-controlled religion, the supernatural, and the mystical. It inevitably accompanies modernization. As science disproves myth and superstition, religion has diminishing relevance in modern society. Studies in the twenty-first century reflect an increasing percentage of citizens without religious affiliation in Western developed nations. Secularization has accompanied the rise of humanism, which emphasizes a person's capacity for self-realization through reason.
          Rational thought leads to demystification.
