Psychologically healthy people report having peak experiences. These are natural, creative, transcendental, and powerfully moving periods of enhanced expansiveness and awareness lasting from hours to years. Peak experiences are beneficial and result in heightened, profound understanding. In a peak experience, euphoria results from truth or enlightenment received, delight in the discovery of new concepts, or a sense of harmonious integration with the universe. They are not experienced by everyone, and cannot be intentionally induced. If you consume consciousness-altering substances with the intent of attaining euphoria, you are cheating yourself. Your altered reality impairs perception and consciousness, thus you are wasting your imagination, intellect, and money.
You don’t need to seek euphoria—it will find you. A natural high will occur when mind and body are healthy, focused, and ready.
