Kindness
In his work 365 Tao, Deng Ming-Dao writes, “Help others for all the times that you have been ignored. Be kind to others, for all the times that you have been scorned. The journey of humanity is the journey from ignorance to enlightenment.”
Protect the treasure of kindness within you. It expresses your human qualities of beneficence, warmth, respect, consideration, sympathy, and generosity. Learn to give without hesitation, to lose without regret, and to win without meanness. Expect no recognition or material reward. Expect a greater reward: the moral satisfaction that comes with helping or forgiving someone.
Your kindness is most genuine, and your satisfaction is felt most deeply, when aiding others anonymously.
